Sig­nal In­puts for Vi­bra­tion Mea­sure­ment

The input mod­ules on the IFTA plat­form cap­ture sen­sor sig­nals quick­ly and with­out in­ter­fer­ence. The AD4-fam­i­ly of input mod­ules offer the high­est sig­nal qual­i­ty through true 24-bit AD con­ver­sion. Vi­bra­tion phe­nom­e­na can be de­tect­ed syn­chronous­ly with up to 204.8 kHz, on up to 32 chan­nels. These can also be sup­ple­ment­ed with input mod­ules for slow ana­log or dig­i­tal sig­nals. For high­ly ac­cu­rate mea­sure­ment of an­gu­lar mo­men­tum, the AT2 High Speed Timer input mod­ule is also avail­able. Its out­stand­ing pre­ci­sion and ver­sa­til­i­ty was award­ed 2nd place at the messtec + sen­sor mas­ters award 2017.

Sta­tion­ary In­stal­la­tions

The AD4IEPE is pri­mar­i­ly used in sta­tion­ary in­stalled in­dus­tri­al ma­chin­ery. Mea­sure­ment sig­nals from ex­ter­nal pre-am­pli­fiers or sig­nal con­vert­ers can be con­nect­ed to the AD4IEPE ei­ther as volt­age sig­nals or as cur­rent sig­nals. Like­wise, com­mon in­dus­tri­al stan­dard sig­nals can be ap­plied di­rect­ly by a con­trol sys­tem (±10 V, 0-10 V, 4-20 mA, etc.). In ad­di­tion the mod­ule of­fers a switch­able IEPE sup­ply on each chan­nel.

Espe­cial­ly when there are large dis­tances be­tween the con­trol room and the mea­sur­ing site, gal­van­ic iso­la­tion is re­quired - not only for the de­sired sig­nal, but also for the volt­age sup­ply of the sen­sor or charge am­pli­fi­er. IEPE tech­nol­o­gy in­cor­po­rates both into a sin­gle 2-wire cable. Espe­cial­ly in ap­pli­ca­tions with large num­bers of mea­sur­ing lo­ca­tions, IEPE enor­mous­ly sim­pli­fies the in­stal­la­tion ef­fort and mea­sure­ment setup.

This stan­dard is ap­plied to sen­sors such as ac­cel­er­a­tion, force and pres­sure sen­sors or mi­cro­phones and dif­fers in its des­ig­na­tion de­pend­ing on the man­u­fac­tur­er. ICP© (in­te­grat­ed cir­cuit piezo­elec­tric), CCLD© (con­stant-cur­rent line-drive), IsoTron©, DeltaTron© or Piezotron© are some ex­am­ples.

Ser­vice

Thanks to the flex­i­ble push-in con­nec­tors, in­stal­la­tion ca­bles can be laid di­rect­ly or with wire end sleeves, with­out the need for time-con­sum­ing con­nec­tor as­sem­bly.

Test bench­es

The AD4IEPE is also rec­om­mend­ed for test bench­es, since gal­van­ic iso­la­tion of the power sup­ply from pre-am­pli­fiers or sen­sors is also ad­van­ta­geous for them: With 2-wire ca­bles, the wiring ef­fort per mea­sur­ing site is ex­treme­ly low, mak­ing wiring easy to man­age and there­fore less prone to er­rors.

The AD4IEPE and AD4PS mod­ules are used in in­dus­tri­al plants for long-time mon­i­tor­ing and pro­tec­tion sys­tems. The AD4PS of­fers a switch­able IEPE sup­ply and volt­age source on each chan­nel. Thus, ac­tive sen­sors and other mea­sure­ment chain com­po­nents such as iso­la­tion am­pli­fiers can be run di­rect­ly.

Espe­cial­ly when there are large dis­tances be­tween the con­trol room and the mea­sur­ing site, gal­van­ic iso­la­tion is re­quired. With the AD4PS this gal­van­ic iso­la­tion per chan­nel is al­ready in­te­grat­ed. With the IEPE sup­ply, a 2-wire line is suf­fi­cient for the sup­ply of the sen­sor, since the sup­ply and the sig­nal are led over the same line. Espe­cial­ly in ap­pli­ca­tions with large num­bers of mea­sur­ing sites, IEPE enor­mous­ly sim­pli­fies the in­stal­la­tion ef­fort and mea­sure­ment setup.

Test bench­es and mo­bile mea­sure­ments

The AD4PS is also rec­om­mend­ed for test bench­es and mo­bile mea­sure­ments, since gal­van­ic iso­la­tion is of ad­van­tage here, too. Ad­di­tion­al­ly, de­pend­ing on the mea­sure­ment task, the ap­pro­pri­ate sup­ply of sen­sors and other com­po­nents can be ac­ti­vat­ed and no fur­ther ex­ter­nal com­po­nents are re­quired for this. The mea­sure­ment chains re­main lean and man­age­able and thus less prone to er­rors.

Test­ing
