However, com­bus­tion en­gines will con­tin­ue to be used in many areas today and in the fu­ture, primar­ily be­cause of their high re­li­ab­il­ity and good scalab­il­ity. In order to guar­an­tee ef­fi­cient op­er­a­tion and long-term re­li­ab­il­ity of the en­gine, some chal­lenges have to be over­come. This also in­cludes identi­fy­ing dan­ger­ous vi­bra­tion con­di­tions be­fore long-term dam­age oc­curs.

The IfTA Ar­gusOMDS as a sys­tem solu­tion for com­bus­tion en­gine ap­plic­a­tions of­fers the func­tion­al­it­ies for dia­gnos­is, mon­it­or­ing and pro­tec­tion of vi­bra­tions. The aim is to main­tain the longev­ity of en­gines through meas­ures in the de­vel­op­ment phase or dur­ing op­er­a­tion in order to ex­ploit the full po­ten­tial of en­gines.
