Nowadays, very high de­mands are placed on meas­ure­ment tech­no­logy, in par­tic­u­lar vi­bra­tion meas­ure­ment tech­no­logy. The pre­ci­sion and the right tim­ing de­term­ine the safety of plants and sys­tems. One es­sen­tial com­pon­ent of the sys­tems are the sensors. In forms of pres­sure, ac­cel­er­a­tion, strain and tem­per­at­ure sensors, they provide the en­tire in­form­a­tion flow for sub­sequent ana­lyses. However, most vi­bra­tion meas­ur­ing in­stru­ments cur­rently re­quire a sep­ar­ate input card for each type of sensor, as well as suit­able charge amp­li­fi­ers and power sup­plies. Normally, the meas­ure­ments in­volve dif­fer­ent meas­ured vari­ables under dif­fer­ent am­bi­ent con­di­tions re­quir­ing dif­fer­ent sensor types and there­fore many input cards. In ad­di­tion, the manu­al con­fig­ur­a­tion of all ex­tern­al com­pon­ents and the in­di­vidu­al cards poses chal­lenges to the op­er­at­ors of the meas­ure­ment sys­tems.

Costs Caused by In­flex­ible Input Cards

Chal­lenges with chan­ging sensors

In­flex­ible input cards - i.e. input cards that are spe­cial­ized for spe­cif­ic sensor types - have an enorm­ous po­ten­tial to gen­er­ate un­ne­ces­sar­ily large costs and ef­fort. In the worst case, simple meas­ure­ments re­quire a large num­ber of dif­fer­ent input cards. However, each in­di­vidu­al input card causes ac­quis­i­tion costs, which also in­cludes the high costs for the right ac­cessor­ies, such as the right charge amp­li­fi­er.

Fur­ther­more, an exact con­fig­ur­a­tion of the input cards and all up­stream com­pon­ents is es­sen­tial for pre­cise res­ults of the meas­ure­ment sys­tems. Each ad­di­tion­al com­pon­ent is a pos­sible source of error and there is a danger that costly meas­ure­ment series are fals­i­fied or worth­less.

Our solu­tion with highly flex­ible in­puts

The IfTA AD4Pro input mod­ule com­bines a vari­ety of ne­ces­sary func­tion­al­it­ies in a single mod­ule. The 4-chan­nel input card is equipped with FleXense tech­no­logy. FleXense means that voltage meas­ure­ment, cur­rent meas­ure­ment, charge amp­li­fi­er, pre-amp­li­fi­er and bridge cir­cuits, as well as IEPE sup­ply are already in­cluded in each input. This saves costs for ac­quis­i­tion and main­ten­ance and guar­an­tees an un­com­plic­ated sensor change for ser­vice ap­plic­a­tions or other ap­plic­a­tions with chan­ging sensor setup.

In con­junc­tion with our IfTA  Ar­gusOMDS and Dyn­aMaster sys­tem solu­tions, all vi­bra­tion meas­ure­ment tasks can be mastered. A cent­ral con­fig­ur­a­tion in com­bin­a­tion with stored meas­ure­ment setups pre­vents costly er­rors.
