Dur­ing their ser­vice life, com­po­nents are nor­mal­ly sub­ject to a wide va­ri­ety of loads, which must al­ways be met, whether stat­ic or dy­nam­ic. In order to be able to test the ac­tu­al be­hav­ior of a com­po­nent under dy­nam­ic con­di­tions, long-term tests or en­durance tests are also car­ried out dur­ing the de­vel­op­ment phase of a com­po­nent. How­ev­er, dy­nam­ic mea­sure­ments gen­er­ate enor­mous amounts of data, which lead to the fol­low­ing con­flict.

Chal­lenges in long-term test­ing

On the one hand, due to clar­i­ty, it should be pos­si­ble to quick­ly an­a­lyze all data of the vi­bra­tion be­hav­ior over the en­tire pe­ri­od, but on the other hand, the data set must be avail­able in a high res­o­lu­tion for un­der­stand­ing the cor­re­la­tions of the vi­bra­tion be­hav­ior. The un­der­ly­ing con­flict is there­fore to find the right com­pro­mise be­tween stor­age/ com­pu­ta­tion ef­fort and ac­cu­ra­cy when mea­sur­ing vi­bra­tion over a long pe­ri­od of time.

Our so­lu­tion

A mon­i­tor­ing sys­tem in com­bi­na­tion with an anal­y­sis soft­ware, which solves this ac­tu­al con­tra­dic­tion and at the same time im­press­es with the ac­cu­ra­cy and speed of the data anal­y­sis.

The IFTA sys­tems in com­bi­na­tion with the anal­y­sis soft­ware IFTA TrendView­er en­able a very sim­ple han­dling of large amounts of data, such as those gen­er­at­ed in long-term tests of com­po­nents. The ac­tu­al con­tra­dic­tion be­tween large amounts of data (com­put­ing ef­fort) and fast anal­y­sis is solved in a very el­e­gant way. Depend­ing on the pur­pose of the anal­y­sis, the data can be viewed in dif­fer­ent modes. In order to cap­ture the en­tire time pe­ri­od, it is suf­fi­cient to dis­play the data with a lower res­o­lu­tion, where­by it is pos­si­ble to zoom to cer­tain points with the high­est res­o­lu­tion if re­quired. Thus, very large amounts of data for long-term vi­bra­tion anal­y­sis can be pro­cessed un­com­pro­mis­ing­ly.
