Laboratory measurements
For the experimental measurement of thermo-acoustic oscillations in small-scale combustion systems with thermal power ratings of up to 200 kW, we have our own combustion laboratory (right).

Key data:

  • Three test/measurement rigs
  • Operation of combustion systems with gaseous and liquid fuels
  • Cooling capacity of up to 100 kW for simulation of heating circuits
  • Simulation of domestic water use
  • Explosion-protected laboratory by forced ventilation
  • high acoustic damping through room-in-room construction
  • own workshop for construction of adapters and probes required for measurements

Measuring equipment:

  • various flow meters to determine the air and gas mass flows involved
  • Exhaust-gas analyser for verification of operating points
  • Various cooled and uncooled piezoelectric transducers and microphones for measuring sound pressure oscillation in the combustion system
  • OH- and C2 probes developed in-house for measuring heat-release in the combustion zone of the system being measured
  • Hot-wire anemometer for measuring flow velocities and distributions
  • Accelerometers to measure mechanical vibrations

The Argus OMDS system developed internally by us is used for detection and analysis of the sensor signals, using instrument technology.
