Argus OMDS

IfTA's argusomds.jpgArgus OMDS is our innovative oscillation monitoring and diagnostic system for combustion, shaft and structural oscillations in technical facilities and test rigs. It is a ready to use product that the client can customize from the various components of our hardware and software platforms.

Areas of application:

  • Monitoring and diagnosis of self excited combustion oscillations, also called thermo acoustic instabilities, pulsation or humming. These occur in combustion chambers of heating systems, industrial firing systems, boilers and stationary gas turbines of modern combined cycle (gas+steam turbine) power plants.
  • Monitoring and diagnosis of structural oscillations and vibrations of machines and facilities.
  • Monitoring of shaft and bearing vibrations as well as gearings of rotating machines.
  • Wear out monitoring and detection for machines and facilities.
  • Foreign object detection (FOD).

Outstanding analysis features:

  • Analysis of up to 32 dynamic channels in the time and frequency domain. In the frequency domain, analysis with up to 6400 lines is offered.
  • Seamless measurement of oscillations through overlapping frequency analysis with an overlap of up to 75%
  • Simultaneous recording of low and high-frequency data.
  • Monitoring and counting of frequency peaks with up to 10 limits and up to 10 adjustable bands
  • Correlation of freely selectable channel pairs within the frequency range. We offer calculation of auto-power and cross-power spectrum density spectrum and coherence function of one or more channel combinations
  • SEA spectral analysis. This involves a process which detects and displays sudden changes in a spectrum which changes over time. This enables foreign object detection (FOD) or similar functions to be performed
  • Detection of sensor faults, i.e. mains hum, signal too low and pop corn effects.

Other features

  • Redundant analysis unit for application with the highest availability requirements.
  • Digital, analogue and field bus interfaces (e.g. Profibus, Modbus, Can-Bus, etc.) for data exchange with automation and controlling systems (e.g. I&C). Status, analysis results and exceeded thresholds can be transferred and signaled. Operational data, status of other systems and dynamically changing configurations can be received.
  • IfTA's Argus OMDS can be extended to a fully featured AIC-system for the active controlling and damping of combustion oscillations in realtime.
  • Saving of data on the system at different data rates. With a suitable configuration, up to several years worth of data can be saved on the system.
  • Distribution of data to workstations linked across a network for online visualisation.
  • Post-processing of data.
  • Remote access and system maintenance.
